Filipino Australia Day Friendship (May 2025)

Celebrates culture, connection and community
The vibrant colours, dazzling costumes and smiling masks of the world-famous MassKara Festival transformed Australia Friendship Day 2025 into an unforgettable celebration of culture, resilience, and community spirit on the Gold Coast.
Hosted by the Gold Coast Filipino Australian Cultural Ensemble, now known as the Filipino Community Council of Queensland, the event brought together families, community groups, performers and residents from diverse backgrounds to celebrate friendship, cultural diversity and the connections that unite our multicultural community.
Throughout the day, attendees enjoyed cultural performances, music, food and activities that showcased the richness of Filipino culture and the broader multicultural community.
Australia Friendship Day is about bringing people together. It provides an opportunity for communities to share their traditions, build new friendships and celebrate the diversity that makes the Gold Coast such a vibrant place to live. Events like these help foster understanding, strengthen community connections and create a greater sense of belonging for everyone.
One of the highlights of the day was the spectacular MassKara Festival showcase, featuring stunning costumes that travelled all the way from Bacolod in the Philippines. More than a visual spectacle, the performance shared a powerful story of hope and resilience.

Originating during a period of hardship, the MassKara Festival was created to uplift communities through colour, music and celebration, carrying a message that joy can endure even through life's challenges.
As the vibrant costumes took centre stage, the spirit of Bacolod came alive on the Gold Coast, giving attendees a unique opportunity to experience one of the Philippines' most iconic cultural traditions.
TMC was proud to support this wonderful event and celebrate alongside the Filipino community. We congratulate the organisers, volunteers, performers, and community members who helped make Australia Friendship Day 2025 such a memorable and meaningful celebration.
