Connected Communities Summit 2025

Thriving Multicultural Communities (TMC) was proud to host its third annual Connected Communities Summit, bringing together cultural and community leaders, organisations, volunteers and community advocates from across the Gold Coast and surrounding regions.

Led by Executive Director Anna Zubac and CAMS Coordinator Jake Coates, the summit continues to grow each year, reflecting the increasing demand for collaboration, networking and shared learning among multicultural and community groups. The event was created with a simple but important goal: to bring people together, strengthen relationships, share knowledge and create opportunities for communities to work collectively on the issues that matter most.

The summit provided a vibrant platform for community leaders to connect, exchange ideas, celebrate achievements and explore future partnership opportunities. Attendees were treated to a range of outstanding cultural performances that showcased the diversity, talent and richness of our multicultural communities, creating an atmosphere of celebration and unity.

A key highlight of the day was TMC's presentation reflecting on the organisation's impact over the past year. The scale of support delivered across South East Queensland demonstrated the growing need for accessible, community-led services and the dedication of TMC's staff, volunteers, interns and partner organisations.

Over the past year, TMC engaged more than 13,000 people through support, training, social connection and community programs. More than 4,000 individuals received one-on-one assistance across settlement, employment, youth, mental health, domestic and family violence, and social inclusion services. The organisation also delivered over 3,100 hours of driving lessons and more than 9,500 hours of community programs, including swimming lessons, digital literacy training, English classes, vocational skills development and mentoring opportunities.

TMC also supported 86 community groups with governance, fundraising, events, and incorporation assistance, while nearly 100 volunteers and interns contributed their time and expertise. With 65 languages spoken across staff, volunteers and community members, the summit served as a powerful reminder of the strength that comes from working together to build thriving, connected and inclusive communities.
