Serving Up Solidarity: The Multicultural Table Tennis Tournament for Nepal Fundraiser (September 2026)

On Saturday, TMC's Community Action for a Multicultural Society (CAMS) Program was proud to support the Queensland Nepalese Table Tennis Club's Multicultural Table Tennis Tournament for Nepal Fundraiser, an event that brought people together through sport for a meaningful cause.
CAMS Officer for Northern Gold Coast, Jake Coates, attended on behalf of TMC and joined participants from a wide range of cultural backgrounds for a day of friendly competition, community spirit and generosity.
Sport as a common language
Sport has a unique way of breaking down barriers. At the tournament, players and spectators from many different communities came together at the table, sharing rallies, encouragement and plenty of good-natured competition. Whatever their background, everyone was united by a love of the game and a shared commitment to making a difference.
Supporting communities in Nepal
At the heart of the event was a powerful purpose: raising funds and awareness in support of communities in Nepal. The tournament showed how local action on the Gold Coast can extend its reach far beyond our region, and how the Nepalese community and its friends continue to stay connected to, and care for, communities back home.

Community-led, community-strong
This event was a wonderful example of a community-led initiative that strengthens social cohesion. By inviting participation from across cultures, the Queensland Nepale
se Table Tennis Club created an inclusive space where new friendships could form and people could contribute to something bigger than themselves.
At TMC, we recognise that strong communities are built through partnerships. Through the CAMS Program, we are committed to working alongside multicultural organisations and supporting initiatives that promote cultural celebration, social inclusion and meaningful community engagement.
We thank the Queensland Nepalese Table Tennis Club for their collaboration and for the important role they play in fostering connected, inclusive and thriving communities across the Gold Coast.
