A Day in Bloom: Ageing Gracefully at the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers (September 2026)

Some days just stay with you. For TMC's Ageing Gracefully program, our recent trip to the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers was one of them.

We were so proud to bring together more than 124 seniors from over 29 countries for a day at one of Queensland's most beloved events. Some of our participants brought their grandchildren along too, turning the outing into a true family affair and a chance for different generations to share something special side by side.

More Than a Day Out

For many in our community, a trip like this isn't easy to make alone. The distance from the Gold Coast and the cost of travel can put events like the Carnival of Flowers out of reach, and that can quietly add to the isolation many seniors already feel.

That's exactly why Ageing Gracefully exists. The program is about creating opportunities for our seniors to get out, connect with one another, experience something new

and make memories together. Watching friendships spark across languages and cultures, all surrounded by the colour and beauty of the carnival, was a reminder of just how much these moments matter.

We're incredibly grateful to the Queensland Government for funding programs like Ageing Gracefully. Their support makes experiences like this possible and helps ensure that our seniors can stay active, social, and connected to the wider community.

As the Gold Coast's only multicultural provider offering these experiences at no cost to participants, TMC is proud to keep creating meaningful opportunities for our diverse community. No one should miss out on joy and connection because of their background, their budget, or how far they live from the action.

A Proud Moment for the Gold Coast

The day had one more highlight in store. A very special congratulations to the Gold Coast Filipino Australian Cultural Ensemble on taking home the Visiting Floral Float Award! It was wonderful to see our local multicultural community represented, and celebrated, at such a special event.

From the flowers to the friendships, it was a day filled with everything Ageing Gracefully stands for. We can't wait for the next adventure.
