Multicultural Queensland Awards (Ageing Gracefully)- August 2026

Last week, the TMC team had the honour of attending the Multicultural Queensland Awards at the Logan Entertainment Centre, a night dedicated to celebrating the individuals and organisations working to build a more inclusive and connected Queensland.

It was wonderful to see the strength of Queensland's multicultural sector on show, with the Hon. Fiona Simpson MP, Logan Mayor Jon Raven and MP Charis Mullen all in attendance on the night to help recognise the achievements of this year's finalists and award recipients.

A Highly Commended Recognition

We are incredibly proud to announce that Thriving Multicultural Communities (TMC) was awarded Highly Commended in the Social Cohesion and Community Impact Project of the Year category, for our Ageing Gracefully project.

This recognition is a wonderful acknowledgement of the ongoing work our team puts into supporting multicultural seniors. It reflects our commitment to creating opportunities for social connection, participation and advocacy, and to ensuring older people from diverse cultural backgrounds have a genuine voice in shaping the services and communities around them.

A Special Congratulations

We'd also like to give a special congratulations to Krystal, our Ageing Gracefully Project Coordinator, whose dedication and advocacy sit at the heart of this work. Her commitment to bringing seniors together, creating opportunities for connection and making sure their voices are heard makes a genuine difference every day.

We're proud of what the Ageing Gracefully project has achieved, and grateful to everyone, including Krystal, our wider TMC team, and community partners, who continues to contribute to its success. This recognition motivates us to keep working towards stronger, more connected and inclusive communities for people of all ages and backgrounds.
