It was a busy and rewarding weekend for Thriving Multicultural Communities (TMC) as our team joined one of the Gold Coast's vibrant multicultural celebrations, the Kusuma Indonesia Community Australia (KICA) Harmony Festival!

Held at the beautiful Broadwater Parklands, the festival brought together community members, cultural groups, families and visitors from across the region to celebrate Indonesian culture, heritage and the values of multicultural harmony. The event showcased

the richness and diversity of Indonesian traditions through cultural performances, music, dance, food and community engagement activities that invited people of all backgrounds to come together and connect.

Throughout the day, attendees had the opportunity to experience the warmth and vibrancy of Indonesian culture while learning more about the traditions, customs and stories that have shaped one of the world's most diverse nations. The festival created a welcoming space where people could celebrate cultural identity, build new friendships and strengthen connections across communities.

For TMC, events such as the KICA Harmony Festival demonstrate the important role community-led cultural celebrations play in fostering understanding, inclusion and social cohesion. By bringing people together to share culture and experiences, these events help build stronger relationships between communities and create opportunities for meaningful cultural exchange.

A special highlight of the day was the opportunity to present a small gift on behalf of TMC to Dr Siswo Pramono, Ambassador of Indonesia and Vanuatu, in recognition of his attendance and ongoing support of the Indonesian community. His presence reflected the strong connections between local communities and their cultural heritage and added to the significance of the occasion.

The success of the festival was a testament to the dedication and hard work of the KICA team and its many volunteers. TMC extends its sincere congratulations to Thia Taylor and the entire KICA committee for delivering such a successful and meaningful event. Their commitment to celebrating culture, strengthening community connections, and promoting multiculturalism continues to make a valuable contribution to the Gold Coast community.

The Gold Coast Harmony Festival was a wonderful reminder of the power of culture to bring people together. TMC was proud to support the event and looks forward to continuing to work alongside community groups that help create a more connected, inclusive, and vibrant multicultural community.
